"The Forever Dog"...This Book Should Be To Pet Parents What the Bible Is To Christians

Eight years ago, I began feeding a partially raw diet to my then Briard puppy, Ben. At the time, I was afraid to start feeding my older dog, (she was around 10 at the time) the same raw diet, so I continued on with a kibble diet for her. (probably a big mistake)

At first, I didn't feed my Briard puppy a totally raw diet. I would feed one raw meal and one kibble meal each day. Right out of the gate, the things I noticed the most—and the things I continue to notice today, is how much my dogs love to eat raw bones! No matter what else may be inside the bowl, if there's a bone in there, they are going after it before touching anything else.

My 'feeding raw journey' has definitely evolved over the last 8 years. I've gone from feeding partially raw, to feeding a fully raw diet 98 percent of the time. The other 2 percent consists of a few cooked food items. I do not currently feed any commercially processed dog food to my dogs.

Not only has my 'feeding raw journey' changed over the years, but my entire pet parent journey—as a whole, has changed dramatically. From the priorities I place on my dogs, to the way my day revolves around them. My son has been grown up and on his own for some time now, so...my dogs are my kids now. They are my top priority. I would do anything to provide them with the best care possible. And if you're reading this post, I'm guessing you would do the same to provide your pets with the best care known to man!

Until now, "the best care" has been a bit up in the air. Our veterinarians tell us one thing, while in our gut we may feel something else. The pet food industry is a money making machine. And who better to tout that machine than our "trusted" veterinarians. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing all veterinarians. When you know better you do better. But I feel that our veterinarians are way behind in pet nutrition by choice. And therefore, our pets are the ones who have suffered. Veterinary medicine has chosen NOT to do better even though I'm sure the majority of vets and vet school educators know better. Let's face it...no one wants to bite the hands that feed them. And the pet food industry gives lots of money to veterinary medicine.

I have been following Dr. Karen Becker for years! Actually, since I started feeding raw food to my Briard puppy eight years ago. She's worked tirelessly, devoting her career to 'knowing better' and therefore 'doing better.' The best part about her is that she's shouted her knowledge to the rooftops for all of us to hear...if we want to hear it.

I for one, want to hear it. And it's been the best thing I've ever done for the overall health and wellbeing of my dogs.  I hope all of you will tune in for each blog post as I try to share what I have learned these last eight years. I'm still learning every day about new ways to care for my dogs. And I know if you are here reading, you are doing the same. We are kindred spirits, with the same desire to care for and love our pets!

Before we dive deep into this health and wellness journey for our pets, I suggest grabbing yourself a copy of The Forever Dog. The research that went into the writing of this book is phenomenal! It was written on the research and findings of several human scientists who began a study involving the longest lived and living dogs. Dogs living as long as 30 years of age, 26 years of age, and so on. The research is backed by evidence and proven by evidence.

I purchased the audio version of The Forever Dog. It's also available in hardback, paperback, and audio cd. I will attach my affiliate link here in the blog...at the very top of the blog post as well as the end of the post. This book will change your pet parenting life forever!!

    1. Paris would LOVE eating a raw diet because when they were puppies Daniella fed them a raw diet. So, he would love to have some raw treats now and again, I'm sure!
