3 Things You Can Do To Create A Stronger Bond With Your Dog

This is Jillian. She's one of a sister duo of mine. And she is so excited in this image above because she always looks forward to our grooming sessions. It's our time, a part of our bonding time.

I haven't been able to write a blogpost lately because I've been so busy packing and cleaning and throwing things away all that has accumulated over the last 12 plus years. Moving is the pits. But I'm keeping focused on the end result! I have to first figure out how I'm going to safely arrive at my new home with multiple dogs in my car...too many dogs to fit safely I'm worried. But I guess we'll get through this along and without anyone else—just was we have with similar situations before. Please say a little prayer for us to the highway Gods that we get there safely!!

This move for us is about a lot of things, but mostly it's about decluttering, removing distractions,  creating peace and relaxation, and family. So today, I took another giant leap towards removing distractions and creating peace.

I got off of Facebook on a large scale. Well, I haven't officially deactivated my account yet. But I will as soon as I can navigate the menu and figure out how to do it. I have another Facebook page that I created for just a few intimate friends. Friends that I personally know. So, now my friend's list has gone from 1900 to 28 friends. And it's all on a Facebook page that's private...no public posts.

This brings me to number one of the ways to create a stronger bond with the dog. Spend more time playing with, walking, grooming, and training your dog. Make a conscious effort to remove as much social media distractions as you can, to give you more time to focus on your dog or dogs. All of these activities are staples in creating an iron clad, "stronger than life" bond with your dog.

I don't spend that much time on social media. But even the time that I do spend on social media is too much in my opinion. Plus—let's face it, the rabbit hole of Facebook is ridiculous. Reality is way better, and much more rewarding and fulfilling. Especially where we are moving. It's going to be an epic love story! It's everything I've wished for...for so long! Just me and my dogs, smack dab in the middle of 500 acres of land. The closest house is about a half mile away! I literally cannot wait!! And to top it all off, the house is an old 1920's farm house that is being completely and lovingly renovated as I type. It's all new from the ground up! And it's a big house...at least for what we are used to. It's about 3000 square feet, or maybe a little less. But none the less, plenty big enough for us! The girls are going to be farm dogs!! They have no idea how much fun it's about to become for them!

Number two on the list is; Allow your dog to sleep in your bed with you..or at least on the floor beside your bed. This is seriously the most important and one of the most fundamental parts of the bonding process. You won't regret it. Dogs bond to you so incredibly faster if they can sleep in the same room with you. It's part of the pack mentality. It's literally what dogs do in the wild. They all sleep together. And in doing this, everyone in the pack gains trust and respect for one another. give it a try and I promise you won't be disappointed. My dogs start out in my bed. And then when I turn over to go to sleep, they get off the bed and onto their own bed which is an xtra long twin mattress topper on the floor beside me. Well, except for Kara. She sleeps in the bed with me all night long. She's very good...hardly moves an inch all night. But that may be because she's exhausted from all of her playing and running around all day!

Number three on my list is a feeding ritual. Don't free feed your dog. Set designated times...or better yet, set you own secret designated times to feed your dog. Mix it up. This ensures that your dog will look to you for his or her most important fundamental means of survival. Your dog will be one with you during the feeding experience. And as a result will continuously look to you for survival. This will create an amazing bond. My dogs, never take their eyes off of me while I'm preparing their raw meals for them. They are totally transfixed until it's time to take the first bite of what I have been making them!

Experiment, find what works for you and your dog. And then do it, make it consistent every single day. But if you're lost for ideas, these three suggestions will change your lives for the better. And the bond you will create will be amazing!

I promise to get on a schedule with writing m blog postings as quickly as possible once we are moved and my Internet is installed. So stay tuned for more regular blog postings after our move. Also, I will probably post some images and write a post as we travel to our next adventurous destination! So stay tuned for those blogposts and image updates at our FullyRawDogs Facebook page.

Till my next post, Take Care!
